Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester

I.  Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester  General
This product is newly designed according to the requirements in IEC 156 standard, Testing method for dielectric strength of insulating oil, and GB 507-86, sufficiently considering home and foreign users’ demands.
This product adopts digital display and locking technologies with direct reading and high measuring precision. In the products, there are spherical electrodes, spherical cap electrodes, large-plate electrodes and other standard electrodes used home and abroad, as well as small space electrodes, small-plate electrodes and other non-standard electrodes. Therefore, one machine can offer multiple requirements to the user. This product adopts special processing method, providing special type high strength insulation transformer and maximum measuring range of 0 to 80kV, and it is small and light. Standard ground wire earthing reliability will be capable of ensuring safety of the product. When oil breakdown, the overcurrent protection set at 0.02s will automatically switch off power supply. This product is safe and reliable, capable of meeting the requirements for testing dielectric strength of various insulating oils.

This machine uses reversible motor and voltage regulator for automatic and even voltage rise. In case of oil breakdown, the protection system will automatically cut off power supply. There is small discharge sparkle during breakdown. No obvious free carbon produced. When testing is performed for six times in succession, there is only small decentrality. No agitation between electrodes is necessary. Oil cup is placed in sealed glass cowl, where there is interlocking device, opening the oil cup will automatically cut off high voltage circuit. No stored electric charges. Personal safety is ensured.

IV. Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester Operation instructions
(I)   Preparation
1.   Power supply is single phase, AC 220V, ground terminal of housing must be connected to standard ground wire.
2.   Mount and check oil cup carefully. Pay attention to axis of two electrodes. Adjust space between electrodes, to 1.25mm for small plate, or 2.5mm for others.
3.   Switch on power supply. Power indicator lamp is on. Now voltmeter displays 00.0, showing this machine works well (an error with a few of digits is normal, not affecting testing precision).
4.   Reduce voltage before voltage rise. Then voltage rise testing is performed. Otherwise action is rejected.
(II) Testing
1.   Slowly pour prepared oil sample into the cup, clean twice, then fill the cup with oil sample, place the oil cup on electrode support, close the cup cowl, press down interlock switch (no closing the cup cowl will reject action).
2.   Wait for 10 to 15 minutes for air bubbles to go off.
3.   Press the voltage rise button for automatic voltage rise. In case of oil breakdown, the overcurrent protection relay and protection system will act, cutting off power supply of booster within 0.02s. Now digital display shows breakdown voltage of oil.
4.   Press the step-down button, the voltage regulator will automatically reset. After five min, next testing can be performed.
5.   During testing, if outside voltage is insufficient, digital display cannot reach 80kV, however, rotary disk of the voltage regulator has reached limit switch.
6.   During testing, in case of abnormality, press the stop button, force high voltage power supply to cut off (when re-testing, the stop button reset).
V. Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester Notes
1.   The tester must be used only with standard ground wire earthing.
2.   The oil cup shall be always filled with clear and pure oil for protecting the cup.
3.   Regularly wipe electrode with soft fur of silk fabric to keep bright and clean.
4.   If operating and maintaining correctly, there will be no failure with the tester. Do not open the casing. In case of abnormality, contact us in time.
VI. Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester Maintenance
1.   After operation, the tester shall be placed in a dry and ventilated room, free of corrosive gases.
2.   In case of failure, check and service shall be performed by qualified persons. Non-qualified persons are forbidden to open the casing. Otherwise accident may be caused.
3.   There is a year’s guarantee with this product. For quality and technical problems, repair free of charge will be provided. For damage caused from the user’s incorrect operation or unintended action, favorable service will be provided.
